Yeah this post is completely off topic but yesterday was one of the most happiest days of my life. My FH came back from overseas where he had been working for six months. I was standing at the airport shaking with excitement and nerves and also cause it was dam cold and his gate B which is just in front of some big doors which kept letting in massive blasts of cold air as it was freezing at 7am yesterday morning in Sydney.

I had the whole house professionally cleaned yesterday, my finger nails done, my car cleaned and all the little odd jobs that you get done before someone you haven't seen for ages comes home to you. I had my fingernails shellacked for the first time ever as I had a week off work (we aren't really allowed nail polish on at work so I thought I'd try a light colour and see how it goes.) One of my fingernails on the other hand is a little bit bung due to the polish blobbing slightly but I didn't have time to go back and get her to fix it. Plus I thought it was a good time to try it out for the wedding.

And boy was I so happy when he walked through the gate. I had a big red balloon which was my surprise for him, a little embarrassing for him as there was massive turnout at the gate with all the families waiting for their boys and girls to come home. But he said that it was a good thing as he didn't have his glasses on and it was easy to pick me out with it.
I had brought a bunch of balloons from the Party people in Sans Souci on Rocky Point Road and they were waiting at home for him. Corny I know, but I wanted to show him that I loved him. Also had a nice bottle of Tempus Two Cabernet Merlot specially for him as I remembered that he really liked the bottle before he went away.

We had breakfast at Nulla Nullas in cronulla which was awesome. Eggs Benedict for him and a Spanish omelette for me and headed home to rest and relax. As he hadn't had much sleep on the plane and I didn't really sleep a wink the night before as I was too excited to sleep as he was coming home. We crashed out on the couch and watched the Olympics when we woke up for most of the evening.
I was also spoilt rotten by a beautiful Dubai diamond set of earrings and necklace in a brilliant cut setting. Brought to say thank you for putting up with him being away for so long. Absolutely gorgeous but only going to be for special occasions. We are going to have to get them valued and insured as they are worth more in Australia than what you buy them in Dubai for. I had to get FH remind me to take it off before I went to bed last night so I wouldn't wreck it.

We had a fantastic Thai dinner delivered as we both couldn't be bothered heading up to the local pub for dinner - chicken pad Thai for him and chicken pad see ew for me. So yummy. And then crashed out in bed. I think its going to take some time to get used to having someone sleeping in bed next to me again and with Bella the cat too, she was constantly like I want some pats too and kept snuggling up between the two of us (very odd for her as she is the most antisocial cat ever), but I guess she was happy to have her Dad home as well. So that's the end of my very happy day yesterday. We've got a busy month coming up with wedding appointments, boat shows and getting things for the boat (his pride and joy), and friend's weddings, and sporting events - FH is running in the City to Surf and Tough Mudder - I'm just the support crew :). And also work fitted in somewhere between all of them. So I'll leave you on this happy note and we are off to do errands and find his wedding band today - Wish us luck!
How exciting for you to finally have him home! Looks like you had a lovely reunion, the balloons and wine are such a nice touch! That necklace and earrings are just stunning too. xx
ReplyDeleteYeah i'm very spoilt and so happy at the moment. Its a lovely time :)
Deleteyey!!!! You must be sooo happy and not want to let him go.
ReplyDeleteI have to ask you though, why do you start some of your posts with "this is completely off topic"- it's your blog hun, everything about you is on topic! :)
Haha good point. I think its because this blog started out as primarily just a wedding blog and now its turned into a life blog as well.
DeleteOh, how sweet! You must have been so so excited to have him back. The balloons and wine are a gorgeous idea, and I'm sure he loved it! You lucky girl with the diamounds, they're brilliant! Your reward for having to go through the last few months of missing him :)
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm very excited to have him back as life has gone back to normal again which is fantastic. It's almost like he's never been away which is really good.
DeleteHooray that he is finally home! How exciting for you! I love your little surprises for him and that necklace set he got you is stunning! Sounds like you will be kept very busy for sure. :)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to find him something that he'd appreciate and let him realise how much I love him, so I think I acheived that one alright haha. It's so nice to have him back home. Just holding hands in the shopping centre while looking for stuff is something that I'd forgotten how much I love.
DeleteOh wow, 6 months! You must be thrilled to have him back! :-))
ReplyDeleteThe balloons were such a sweet touch x
