My wedding band ... the search begins!

I've been wandering though the jewellery stores at the local Miranda Westfield over the last couple of  months checking out the wedding rings that they have in store. And so far only one has really stood out. Some of the rings don't fit well against my engagement ring and others just look terrible with it. But I think I have finally found the one that I really like.

I originally thought I'd go with a plain white gold band. Example shown below with my silver right hand ring, it doesn't fit against the engagement ring, so it's not the best photo but you get what I mean. The plain band made the diamond in my engagement ring stand out more and still looks pretty.

Just an idea of the plain wedding band (my photo)
But I found a lovely wedding band with diamonds in it instead of a plain white gold band and keep coming back to this band. I showed it to my grandma when I went back to New Zealand as no one else has seen it yet apart from FH seeing some photos that I'm going to post on here. We were in the store and she thought that it looked really nice with it. Though her comment was ... aren't the diamonds going to fall out when you do gardening or cooking. My answer was .. I live in Sydney grandma and we don't have a garden, we've only got some beautiful plants in pots on the balcony. And if I do anything dirty, I usually take off my rings and put them somewhere safe or if not possible, slide them through my necklace that I wear every day and they are quite safe and secure on there, that is what I usually do when going fishing or similar type of activities.

My favourite ring so far (my photo)
So this is the photo of the ring that I've fallen in love with from Michael Hill Jewellers. I've asked for it to be in 18 carat white gold and the original quote I got for it was $800 odd dollars which I don't think is too bad. It's either got 1/4 or 0.5 carat diamonds on it, I can't remember now, so have linked the pages to both rings. But I love how it goes so well with my engagement ring. And how well its sits on its own, shown in the photos below. Sorry about the look of my engagement ring, I've had it for a year and half and its got a bit battered with everyday wear. Will get it re-plated closer to the wedding as I have a yearly cleaning and plating on the warranty. Also need to get it resized but I haven't wanted to take it off because I love it so much! FH picked it so well by himself!

Kelly, the Michael Hill Sales assistant was my hand model (my photos)
FH was wanting me to send photos and dimensions of the ring so he could get one made a reputable jeweller on the way home from his overseas trip with better diamonds etc and cheaper but I decided that probably wouldn't be a good idea as he comes home about 10 weeks before the wedding and if it didn't sit well with my ring, there wouldn't be enough time to get another one made. Also by purchasing this one I get a lifetime of re-plating and cleaning which I wouldn't get through this other one as it wouldn't be based in Australia.

So I think I will go and purchase this ring in the next couple of months from Michael Hill Jeweller, it is so pretty and I love the way it sparkles! What do you think?

  1. Oh I love it! It is gorgeous! It really does compliment your ring nicely and looks great on it's own too. I agree with your idea about sticking with Michael Hill, at least the warranty and cleaning etc can be done nearby.

I love your engagement ring too! My fiance picked mine on his own too. Hooray for having men with excellent taste. ;)

  2. Thank you, it is so good to get other's opinions. Yeah it is great with men with good taste, I don't think I would of enjoyed picking out an engagement ring. As it's been hard enough trying to find a wedding band. I'm glad he picked mine for me, I think it's extra special that way :)

  3. I love it, it looks great and I think the hardest part about picking a wedding band is matching it with your E ring, so great job!

  5. The wedding band looks great! If you and your husband would like to have matching bands and you chose silver - silver is an elegant and great idea if you’re in a tight budget. It would be softer though, so you might want to also consider titanium for your partner, especially if your groom works with his hands or is good at breaking and scratching things.
