A Perfect Surprise .... on a very hot humid day

The lovely box filled with goodies (my photo)
Well it's a hot and humid day here in Caringbah today and i've got all the windows open but there is hardly a breeze.. sitting here in my coolest clothes possible and even thinking about putting an ice pack on my neck ... the indoor clock reads 28 degrees @ 5.30pm ... so hot!!!

I was in the bedroom making my bed and heard a hello, hello at the front door. Low and behold here stands a man with a big red box with a chiffon bow wrapped around it.....

I opened up the card which read  'To show you how much I love you' ... from FH .. so sweet of him.

Spell Check ... pity photoshop doesn't have it!

So last night I had armed myself with my black gel pen and was filling in the names on the RSVP cards and applying stamps to them and putting them in the pocket fold and then the invite into the addressed envelope. Thinking that this month of DIY envelope making was nearly over!

But to my horror ... I thought I'd just read through the invite one more time to make sure.. and I'm dam glad I did. Apparently photo shop has no spell check and I'd created all my invites parts on it.. ARGGGGHHH!!! You probably would of heard it outside if the door hadn't been shut.

Thongs, Jandals and Flip flops - for those with sore feet.....

High heels worn all day can seriously hurt those important things that we call feet.... And I can attest to this because I'm usually the one wandering around with my heels dangling from my hand and my bare feet caressing the pavement.. Or I've wrecked many a pair of black tights because I'm suffering from the same affliction... gotta find some comfy heels and boots I say.

Silver Lining to our MC Black cloud... such a relief

Well ... I said in my last post that our MC put us in an awkward situation and that I was emailing Salvatore Coco about whether he was available and what package that he had to offer.

He replied back to me instantly and we sorted out what we wanted and he gave me a discount as long as I confirm the booking by Friday this week. I emailed FH and he said yes, we'll book him in. So I replied back to Salvatore and we now have a new MC for our wedding. No deposit to be paid at present and he has sent me a MC run sheet and will contact me in August to arrange an appointment so we can meet and greet, organise the reception times and brainstorm to make it something special.

Disappointing... what an awkward situation

Well it's taken me a day to write this as I was quite baffled as what to do. I received an email yesterday from our MC that we had booked asking me to call him urgently.

I did so and the conversation went like this... my friend has asked me to MC his wedding day and it happens to be the same day as yours and I was wondering if I could find you another MC to MC your wedding. The friend had apparently asked him to ask the bride to see whether I would let him go. I was kind of gob smacked and upset at the same time, as I didn't want to say no you can't MC your friends wedding but then again this man is a professional and we'd already paid a deposit.

Chandeliers and Fairy Draping - pretty pretty little things....

Our reception package includes fairy lighting which I absolutely love, it's provided by Elegant Drapings. It's strung across the roof and it creates a very romantic atmosphere....

It's not your typical fairy light draping either, as shown in the photo above, this is a wedding set up in the Settlers Hall at Waterfront where we are having our reception. It's very pretty and soft with the fabric.

Bridesmaid dress shopping... a rather pleasant experience

My Bridesmaids.. I have three of them... And they are some of my favourite people.

L is my MOH, chosen as she was the one that originally set up FH and I to meet at the Opera Bar in Sydney at a get together after Christmas catch up do. I was there with workmates and FH was with L and her friends. One thing lead to another and that's how we got to plan a wedding. I also knew her through work when she came in with jobs. She has been fantastic with helping me find my wedding dress and being a sounding board when I'm not sure about things. She even came up to Darwin to keep me company a few times when FH went overseas the first time.

Valentine's Day .. hope everyone got an extra little bit of love

Happy Valentine's Day everyone, as the title says I really do hope that everyone got an extra little bit of love or happiness today regardless of whether they are coupled or single. I think just seeing the car in front of you loaded with flowers destined for some male or female and the surprise that the person receiving will experience is just enough to make me smile...

I do think that Valentines Day is over commercialised and all hyped up but still when you do get that beautiful single flower or a big bunch of roses, it is still very special.

My First Make up and Hair Trail ... very exciting

Wedding Hair and Make up are so very important and can also make or break your day. You want to look your best on your big day, not with too much make up and not enough. I don't wear much make up at all. But I do love going out and getting my hair and make up done for Balls, fancy dress parties, etc. It's such a nice feeling being pampered and a great result at the end.

After scrolling to millions of makeup and hair artists I narrowed it down to two artists, Mel Sundana from Forever Makeup and Amy Chan from Amy Chan Hair and Makeup Artisty. Amy was well recommended on the vogue forums and I was interested if I could get an appointment with her as she appeared to have heaps of work on.

Time to actually put the pocket folds together.... a mission

Well, I've started the major process of putting the pocket folds together and god does it take ages. I've managed to put together 9 or ten of the pockets a night for the last couple of nights and it is a process.

Sydney Bridal Expo ... A day out for me

The Sydney Bridal Expo was on this weekend - 4th and 5th February at the Sydney Entertainment Centre and after receiving a brochure in the mail for it as we'd been to the same one last year which was very informative and had lots of great stalls. I thought I'd buy myself a ticket to this years one. I asked both my bridesmaids (that live in Sydney) if they'd like to come but unfortunately, they were both working.. and because FH is currently overseas, that counted him out as well, so I figured I'd just go along myself, in my own time and look at the things that I wanted to see.... Yay!

Brochure I received in the mail (my photo)

I brought myself a ticket online through the Australian Bridal Service website for $20, you save five bucks purchasing them online and it's a faster entry when you get there as well which makes it so easy and you don't have to wait in line at all.

Envelopes again....

Yes I know in my last post I was rattling on about envelope sizes and how my ones didn't fit. The ones that I had ordered from Amazing Papers in Newtown arrived yesterday in the post. And it was perfect because FH got to choose which one he thought was best before he left to go overseas for many months ... sad face.. but he comes back just before the wedding so happy face :-)

Silver and Black Envelopes (my photo)

When I pulled them out I knew immediately which one I wanted to use. I put the invite into both of them and showed FH and he picked the black matte envelope which is the one that I wanted as well. The silver one was too light and contrasted too much with the black invite.
