The Wedding Dress Update... It's perfect!!

I had my dress fitting yesterday and it was the most fantastic day ever. Well at least one of my fantastic days involved in planning this wedding. I headed over to my MOH's house and we then drove to Bridal Vision in Wetherill Park. I paid my remaining deposit on the dress and headed down to the fitting room with my receipt in hand.

I had been extremely nervous the day before and leading up until the appointment, worrying that they may have the wrong dress, that it was in the wrong colour (I had ordered it in white but had tried on an ivory in the shop). That the beading would look cheap, or it would just be massive in size or too small!!

When I put it on ... it was perfect!!! The colour was spot on, the beading perfect and it fit amazingly. I don't have to lose any more weight, all I have to do is tone my arms. I didn't need a necklace, all I required was some semi statement earrings, I brought a couple of pairs from Diva yesterday morning, one pair was too heavy and the other pair ok, will probably go for something smaller though as in the photos I noticed that they got caught up in my veil but I didn't realise. And my shoes that I had ordered after sending a few pairs back were ok, good height but rather plan. But that didn't matter as you didn't see them much under the dress. Will keep working on finding a better pair though. Do have another pair in mind possibly...

The fitting lady suggested that I put a hoop under it and it did bring my dress out nicely and it meant that I could walk better in it without it getting caught on my shoes.

My MOH playing around with the hoop for my dress (my photo)

Originally the lady said that the hoop was going to be $250 but then discounted it to $180 and then $150 when she saw my reluctance to buy it straight away. I was going to come back next week and buy it when I got paid again. But as I was changing back into my clothes, my MOH and my friend B, that i have staying with me were whispering in the hallway. B wasn't sure if I wanted the hoop and then when she came back in the room, she asked if I wanted the hoop and then paid for it for me because she said that it was karma for letting her stay with me when she was in a sticky situation. I was extremely grateful to her, and it just finished off the most perfect day.

The $8000 iron (my photo)

The lady then pressed my dress, took some of the black marks out of the train which had occurred when trying it on, due to her shoes. Apparently the iron that she used cost $8000. Crazy aye. But works very well. A tip that she told me, is to have a bottle of friend on the day and spray any marks with it, wipe it with water and then blow it dry with the hair dryer, very effective.  And put a bustle on it which only cost $40, took the hem up for no cost and put a tiny little ribbon on my veil to hang it and pressed the creases out of it, so it looks beautiful!

After the fitting, my MOH and I went and had fish n chips in Condell Park, yes, the real fish n chips that come in paper and taste fantastic. Actually pretty good by New Zealand fish n chip standards when comparing Australian fish n chips. Haha. The joke at the moment is now that the dress fits with room to tighten or loosen if required, I can eat a little bit more extravagantly, so we did. I have decided that I will try the dress on with about a month to go to the wedding to make sure that it is still good and fitting well. But it will be back on Lite n Easy when I go back to work. I came home and crashed out on the couch as it is a pretty emotional day when you think of it all. B came back and we went and had Mexican in Cronulla and came home and had a girl's night in and ate snakes, popcorn and watched a couple of movies. A great end to a perfect day!

I so want to show you some photos of my dress on me but my MOH and B said that I wasn't allowed to put them on my blog. Ah well. Will  just have to wait the four and three quarter months to go .. haha.. Not long now. It's funny as my dress is hanging on the back of my door and I see it when I wake up in the morning. I woke up today and looked across and went phew yesterday wasn't a dream was it, it was still the perfect day.

So I will leave you with a photo of it hanging on my door as that doesn't give away too much.. haha

Yes my dream was real :)

  1. So exciting your dress is done and you're so happy with it! Sounds like you had a great experience with your dressmaker. My wedding is October 6 so must be very close to yours. My dress comes in June 29 at the latest but will need some alterations afterwards which my aunty will do (she is a teacher now but used to own her own bridal dressmaking/design business!) including adding a bustle, adding straps, hemming, and any other little nips or tucks that need doing.

    1. Haha, it depends on your version of so long to wait. It's not that long now, four and a half months is going to absolutely fly!!! :) As the last year has gone so fast, I keep getting jitters at the moment as it is coming up so fast :)
