My Wedding Band ... Found and Ordered!

I posted ages ago about finding my potential wedding band, and since then have fallen much more in love with the same band but with bigger stones in it. Hence causing me to have a heart attack and feel very sick to my stomach when the Michael Hill Jeweller Sales lady told me the most accurate price on what the 18 carat white gold would be.

I took my sister in law to the shop a few weeks ago on the public holiday that Sydney had and for some reason the ring didn't seem right (this was the one with the smaller stones). I kept going it doesn't seem right and the lady was this is the one that is written in the book. I had a price in my head of $799, and the one she was showing me was $599 and wasn't on sale. So I knew that it wasn't the right one. I went back on Monday this week and they had the $799 one in stock. Turns out the one she was showing me was the little sister of the ring, and then there is a even bigger sister which was way way out of my price range! I tried it on (the middle sister ring) and instantly knew that it was the right one. The sales lady got me a quote on 18 carat white gold and it was almost double what I thought it was going to be. The grand total came to $1299, and I nearly fainted on the spot. I felt sick to my stomach and was like hell how am I going to tell FH that the ring I'm absolutely in love with is practically $1300.

FH was text talking to me on skype and I mentioned that I was at the jeweller store and he was like how much and I told him. He rang me and we decided that it was a once in a life time ring and for peace of mind (as in 10 carat gold wears away 18 carat gold) to get the 18 carat white gold wedding band as I love it and it is worth it.

Kelly, the sales lady, rang me back the next morning after I had a sleep on it, as was trying to decide 10 carat or 18 carat white gold. And we booked in the 18 Carat white gold version of the ring. She has to order it in, so I told her I would come in this week when I had a day off.

So today, on day off this week, I popped in to the Miranda Michael Hill Jeweller and waited for Kelly to finish with her customer.

She finished with her customer and called me over. And I placed my order for my beautiful wedding band as shown in the photos below. Feels good to have paid it off completely as well. She was like you can pay 50% now and then the rest on picking it up. I was like nah, let's wipe it all out now, so I don't have to pay anything when I come to pick it up in 6-8 weeks time.

So I'm very very happy with my new purchase. It's 0.25 carat of diamonds and 18 carat white gold. The one in the photo is 10 carat gold but it will be very similar. Ah I love it to pieces and can't wait to get the phone call from Michael Hill Jeweller saying that my ring is ready to be picked up.

    1. Haha yeah, I'm glad i've ordered it now as well. I forgot about that saying. And I do agree - diamonds are absolutely beautiful. And i've been spoilt rotten in the last couple of years with them. Going from a cubic zirconium girl now to a diamond girl. I've been blinged!! haha

  4. Your ring looks great! It is great to get what you really want. We ordered our wedding bands and they're around $1000 each (mine because it has small diamonds in it, my FH's because it is 18k rather than 9k - literally double the price) which was way more than I was expecting but in the end your FH is right - it's a once in a lifetime purchase and its something with real meaning so may as well do it properly. It's the lasting item from your wedding day. We are picking ours up during the holidays, I can't wait to see it in person and try it on as I've only seen a photo of it next to my engagement ring.

  6. How exciting! It's beautiful.

And so lucky that your FH agreed! It's totally worth it... in the grand scheme of things, it's not much to pay for something you will be happy with for the rest of your life! x
