The Wedding Reception Site

After looking at wedding venues like Le Montage, Curzon Hall, and many others, plus hours spent researching online looking for the perfect venue and package, we settled on Waterfront Restaurant in Circular Quay.

The Dockside Group Restaurants, Circular Quay

We originally saw this place after finishing a dinner cruise on the sailing ship which usually sits just after the right of this photo. I hopped off the boat and saw a bride and groom standing in one of the big bay windows and thought that was a rather special sight. When we got engaged, I suggested it to FH as one of the possible places and he agreed.

Apparently Waterfront according to the Dockside Website is the place to be if you are dreaming of a romantic reception in the original heart of Sydney, Waterfront offers a range of impressive private rooms in the magnificent heritage-listed Campbell’s Stores'. It has everything we want, old fashioned, sandstone, romance and dam good food. We've eaten there a couple of times now and are very impressed with the meals. And the package is extremely hard to beat for the price:

We fell in love with the big bay windows, well I did anyway. As seen in the photo on the left. They are in all the rooms and looking out you can see the Opera House and Harbour. Absolutely gorgeous. I love them as you could put anyone in a photo with the sandstone and and wooden frame. I'm hoping that we can get a photo standing in one of them on our big day. So special!

Opera Room Ceremony (my photo)

So we chose the Opera Room and Settlers Hall and ended up having to book it for a Sunday because the minimum head on a Saturday was 80 persons and $130 a head, so a Sunday is minimum 70 persons and $120 a head, much more affordable for us. Plus we get all the inclusions above as some of them weren't applicable like accomodation, wedding cake if you didn't have the miniumum number.

And we also have the option for a wet weather plan as shown in the photo on the right. We just need to give our wedding executive who is included in the package some early notice on the day and they will assist to set it up in time for the ceremony. So that's two back up plans in case it rains.

So that's our wedding venue. We have a fantastic package which has cut down on costs with many of the inclusions and we are very happy with our choice. We booked the venue in February 2011 I think and have been dealing with Sasha and Lauren, two very lovely ladies who have an amazing wealth of knowledge on weddings and are so helpful and fast at answering emails, and giving you other ideas when your original idea is not possible, which is what you want when planning a wedding. So happy with our venue!!
